Customer updates – European Leaders visit dublin

Dear Customer,

We would like to make you aware of two upcoming events which may impact transport and customs operations next week.

European Leaders Visit Dublin, 10th–13th November

As the current holder of the EU presidency, the Irish government will host a meeting with European Heads of State in Dublin.

As part of the security arrangements, significant traffic restrictions and road closures will be introduced from Tuesday 10th of November, particularly around Dublin City Centre, the Docklands and surrounding areas.

These restrictions are expected to impact traffic flows, with potential delays to collections and deliveries across the wider Dublin region.

Our Operations, Transport and Customs teams are reviewing planned movements, including collections, deliveries and customs clearance requirements, to identify potential issues in advance and minimise disruption wherever possible.

We would ask customers to:

  • Provide customs documentation as early as possible to allow declarations to be prepared in advance.
  • Where possible, allow additional flexibility around collection and delivery times, particularly in Dublin.
  • Please advise us as early as possible of any time-critical or priority shipments so we can review the options available.

  • Please advise us as early as possible of any time-critical or priority shipments so we can review the options available.

Please advise us as early as possible of any time-critical or priority shipments so we can review the options available.

While we will make every effort to maintain our normal service levels, some delays may be unavoidable due to circumstances outside our control.

We will continue to monitor developments and communicate any significant changes that may impact your shipments.

Public Sector Industrial Action, Thursday 12th November

A 24-hour national strike involving civil and public sector workers is scheduled for Thursday 12th November.

This may impact customs clearance processing and other government services, potentially resulting in delays to the movement and release of goods.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Kind regards,
George Fitzgerald
Roadfreight Commercial Director
