We would like to remind you about an upcoming change effective from 21st January 2025 regarding the movement of goods from Ireland to mainland Europe via the UK.

Currently all goods moving on our Daily European Service do so under Transit (T1 & T2 Transit documents) which identifies the goods description, net and gross weight, pallet quantity, and value of the goods.

As you may be aware, from 21st January 2025, it will become mandatory to include a minimum 6-digit HS code also if the goods are going all the way to mainland Europe.

Now the mandatory requirements are:

  1. Goods description
  2. Net & Gross weight
  3. Pallet / Piece quantity
  4. Goods value
  5. Minimum 6-digit HS code

Exporters already providing the 6 – digit HS code will not need to make any changes to their documentation for these exports.

Please feel free to reach out to your NIC contact if you have any questions relating to this change.

Please see below the official link from Revenue should you require any further information.

If you do not have a HS code, you can explore appropriate HS classifications using the below European Union TARIC consultation link.
