Due to the growth within the Company, a vacancy currently exists for the position of Customs Agent in our Dublin office.

Job Description

  • Customs Agent responsible for preparing and submitting Irish and UK customs declarations.
  • Ensuring Department Roles and Responsibilities and Department KPI’s as set by the company are being carried out to a high standard.

Hours of Work

Initially working from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (M-F), this position will require flexible working between the 07:00am – 15:00hrs and or 15:00 – 23:00hrs, M-F.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and File Customs Irish and GB declarations
    The foremost duty of a customs agent is preparing and filing customs declarations for international shipments. This aspect of the role requires extensive knowledge of the materials being shipped or received, along with a high level of attention to detail to ensure that the business has filled out necessary forms completely and accurately.
  • Manage and Classify Shipments
    In addition to preparing and filing paperwork, customs agents support operations in planning what shipments are cleared to ship. The agent will examine all shipments and utilising the tariff coding system to classify each one.
  • Determine Vat and Duty and Tariff Payments
    Another central duty of a customs agent is determining and issuing duty, tax, and tariff payments for their clients’ imports and exports. A customs agent uses the tariff coding system and shipment records to determine the payment amount due and may also submit payment, ensuring that the company and taxing body retains records of completed payments for each shipment. Customs agents also resolve issues related to over- or underpayment of taxes and duty.
  • Maintain Trade-Related Knowledge Base
    Because international tariffs and trade laws can shift rapidly, customs agents also need to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current rules and regulations. They may also need to provide their clients or employers with periodic updates regarding rules that can impact their business or costs.

  • Good Time Management skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and Prioritise work 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential
  • Computer Skills, Excel and Azyra knowledge preferable
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility
  • Quality and Detailed focused
  • Ability to deal with Customs and Regulatory bodies
