We have strong ambitions to strengthen sustainability across all segments of our operation, by evolving from a reactive to a proactive stance when it comes to sustainability actions and leadership.
Since January, workshops have taken place company wide, to gauge employee and director level perspectives on current ESG policies and our future ambitions. From this, a Situational Analysis document has been developed. This will be used to align insights with NIC’s long-term sustainability goals and objectives, ensuring the ESG Strategy developed is formulated in a realistic yet ambitious manner.
In conjunction with this work, an ESG Steering Group comprised of staff from various departments has been formed to oversee the completion of 100+ actions, both short-term, medium-term and long-term. Each of these actions will contribute to the success of our ESG Strategy.
In the immediate short-term, we are focussed on two primary objectives;
Carbon Footprint Measurement
By determining our 2024 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a baseline level, we can identify emission hotspots, set reduction targets and improve efficiency across the business. NIC will be well placed to meet all reporting requirements, those under government legislation and those of our customers.
EcoVadis Accreditation
EcoVadis is the foremost sustainability ratings platform in ESG performance. The platform assesses performance across multiple industries through a standardised rating system. Our goal is to achieve initial accreditation by year end, and enhance our rating going forward, through a programme of continuous improvement.
